Dont miss the chan-ce, Wong Kok Char Chan Teng

SUNWAY PYRAMID G-floor, Wong Kok Char Chan Teng.

I, Darren Goh Kiet Loong have been assigned go for a food tasting. The venue was Wong Kok Char Chan Teng which is located on the ground floor of The Sunway Pyramid. As I entered the restaurant, there was not a nice welcome. Which I find that is a major setback as customers might change their minds about dining there. Although I did not need an usher. It would have been pleasing if someone assisted me and brought me to a seat. However, the waiter who guided me to make my order was very friendly and clear. On top of that, the table was set up very neatly and orderly. The menus were placed orderly and the table was squeaky clean. When asked what I preferred, I told him that I felt like having noodle and he recommended a few dishes. One of the few he recommended is the "dry noodle with lemon chicken". This particular dish caught my attention. This dish also came in a set which also consisted of a drink, a bowl of soup and fruits. The drink that I had been served was the Hong Kong style milk tea. The tea was very nice, very cold, wasn't too sweet, excellent after a very hot afternoon.

When the dish came, the portion was huge, it looked very well presented but was very plain. It only had 3 noticeable types of ingredients in it. The taste of the noodle was very plain and texture was very tender. Nothing special compared to any noodle I have tasted before. The lemon chicken however, tasted very delicious. I was very satisfied with the choice I had made and the recommendation from the waiter. The soup that came in the set was a cream based soup. The soup was slightly diluted. This however did not bother me as the soup was very flavorful and it was warm when it was served. Moving on, the dessert was a dish of fruits which consisted of melon and watermelons. The fruits were very fresh. As though they had just come from the plantation and cut right away.

Overall, ignoring the fact that there was not a pleasant welcome, but I still feel that the meal turned out better than expected. The price was also very reasonable for a meal like that. I really enjoyed my meal. I will definitely be visiting again sometime soon. Thank you.

The Best Ever

On the September 12, Adelene, Jun Ling, Angie and me decided to have something special for our lunch, so we went to Sunway Pyramid Mall. While walking around and thinking what to eat, we spotted a very unique shop with is next to the main entrance of the mall. It is actually a Hong Kong cuisine restaurant, Wong Kok Char Chan Teng.

The shop located at lot OB.K4 C&D, Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall

The beautiful menu
When we first enter the friendly workers greeted us than take us to our sit and give us the menu. The place was so beautiful and it decoration look like Hong Kong's restaurant. After we comfort ourselves we go through the menu and I found it there were a lot of delicious dishes that i would like to order. They have hawaii chicken rice, cheese baked pork chop rice, spicy spaghetti with seafood and more. The prices there is affordable for student like us because the foods prices is within RM 5 to RM20. While the drink will cost us around RM 3 to RM10 and we also get student discount. Besides ala carte we can also call it in set which it will costs us even cheaper and it is worth it. Due to the lack of money I decided to order the set lunch which is only cost me RM 9.90 and I really feel it is worth it.

My set lunch.
I ordered hawaii chicken rice which it served with a cream soup, ice ying yong ( tea + coffee) and fruits
I get a free Mr Fish Ball because I use the voucher which i got from my sister to redeem. The Mr Fish Ball was really crispy and delicious and the sauce is really special. But my friend, Adelene don't like it because for her it is a little hard inside and the sauce was little bit sweet.

Well back to my set lunch, the hawaii chicken it self was very tasty and finger licking but the rice (egg rice) was too hard and a little salty. Furthermore, my drink was really good. The mixture of the tea and coffee was absolutely perfect and what make it the best was the ice. It was good to drink a cold drink during the sunny day. But I would like to complain about the fruits which is not fresh enough and the watermelons were not sweet. However, the soup was brilliant because it is very creamy and not salty. It was the one I love the most. I feel very satisfied with my set lunch although there were some that I don't really like yet due to the cheap price I paid, it was a great meal. Me and my friends will definitely go to the restaurant to eat again.
WE  LOVE WONG KOK CHAR CHAN TENG.

Last 2 weeks ago, me and my friends had decided to went for lunch together since our class had finish earlier. During class, I felt hungry and starving for food so badly. Then, we had decided to went to Wong Kok Char Chan Teng which located at Sunway Pyramid to have our meals. We went there together through the canopy walked and kept thinking on which restaurant should we go.

When we reached there, we were welcomed by the waiter at Wong Kok. Then, we get our table and seat. The first step when I reached there, I felt the restaurant is so classy and nice. It is such a good dining place to have meals together with friends and family. After that, the waiter served us their menu. I looked through the menu and thinking what should I order. Wong Kok Char Chan Teng is a Hong Kong cuisine which they served Hong Kong food. Though our country is Malaysia, but we managed to taste and eat others country food as well. So, I had decided to ordered Portuguese Fish Fillet Baked Rice. Also, this is my first try for these dishes.

This is the dishes that I had ordered on that day. The dish is highly recommended by the restaurant chef. The food is super appealing, mouth-watering and finger licking good. The Portuguese Fillet fish baked rice is filled with portuguese sauce, fish fiilet and has a lot of cheese on top of it. It makes me felt more hungry when the food served right in front on my table. Besides, the dish actually come in set which included mushroom soup, watermelon juice and fruits. The whole set cost me RM18.80. I love theirs food so much because it is delicious and yummy.

While we having our meals, we were one group in the dining and chit chatting with each others. We did also share some food with each others as we had called different dishes. Every food would make you felt satusfy so much.On the other hand, we had took few photo as to kept it memorable one.

At Wong Kok Char Chan Teng, they served a lots type of food which would make you felt that you would want to try every of their dishes as well if is possible. They do also served for breakfast, lunch and dinner set meals with different side dishes as we can choose it ourself. As for their dishes price at restaurant, it is slightly expensive compare with others restaurant. In addition, they do also have special discount for the student. On that day, we showed them ours student card when we paid the bill to get student discount. In spite of, the waiter and waitress at the restaurant was kind, friendly and provide a very good services.

In a nutshell, I felt happy and satisfied with the meals and the moment I had spent time together with my friends. I would like to thanks to my lecturer, Ms. Priya, which she had gave us a chance to done this assignment in a group and  have meals together. This was an awesome and great day!

This is the food I ordered, Noodle with Honey Spare Ribs. The food served with a mouth-watering look. The decoration and the texture of the food were attractive enough to draw one’s appetite. However, the noodles were not stir evenly when the time it’s served yet overcooked. The sprinkle peppers on the noodles actually make no difference to the noodles.  To make the matters worse, the broth was not special enough to compensate the lackluster noodle. On the other hand, the rib was very delicious. It makes me felt to finger-licking after having the sweet honey sauce. Furthermore, the vegetables only boiled with water before served, but the timing of boiling just accurate to make it a perfectly taste.
Meanwhile, I can smelt the temptation of Milo from a distance before the waiter served. The beverage served in a big white cup. The white in color cup has made a big contrast with the color of the Milo. Though the Milo is brown in color but the brilliant chef had added in evaporated milk in order to give a better appearance of the Milo yet to smooth the taste. For the hot Milo, it is thick enough in texture but also a little bit too sweet for me. Overall, it still brought me a nostalgic and distinctive taste.
From the perspective of nutrition, the meal and the beverage were just good. Because it contained carbohydrates, fiber, water, proteins and fats. It is a good source of energy, nutrients, minerals and vitamins.
I spent around RM15 for this meal. In my opinion, I think it worth every single cent of what we enjoyed. The environment is quite comfortable to have lunch after a day which full of classes, homework and assignment. Yet, the service there was good indeed. Though I wouldn’t order the noodles with honey spares rib for the second times but there are still a variety of foods to choose like steak and the special side dishes which only offer in WongKok Restaurant. Under comparison, the price of hot milo at those “mamak store” and here has a big gap but the standard was there so you will never feel regret over that.
In conclusion, of course we enjoyed our meal. We had a great time together and felt thankful to Ms. Priya who created the chance for us to have meal together and work as a team.

I show my love to myself through enjoying varies of great dishes! That’s really AwEsOmE~~~

delicious food at wong kwok ;)

Wong Kwok Char Chan Teng serves many types of Hong Kong cuisine. I went to the nearest branch which located at Sunway Pyramid with my friends to have a lunch. We orders different type of dishes and I ordered 'Baked Rice With Pork Chop' which is highly recommended by the restaurant chef.

You can actually to choose for the sauce such as mushrooms, tomatoes or pepper. I chose mushroom as I not really enjoy with spicyness. My friends and I chit-chat there until our foods are all here. The time we wait is not really long. Around 10-15 minutes.

I ordered my baked rice in a set, which include beverage, fruits and a bowl of soup. Choices of beverages include Hong Kong style milktea, coffee, yin yong(coffee mix with milktea) and also milo. You can choose to have jelly as your dessert as well if you do not feel like want to have fruits on that day. The soup you can either choose for mushroom soup or western ABC soup.

The taste of this baked rice is so delicious. I like the cheesy cheese on top of the rice, come with the taste of the pork chop. I like the milktea too because it is full of Hong Kong style. It fulfill me and make me have the feeling like I'm definitely having a Hong Kong cuisine in Hong Kong. That is awesome !

Wong Kwok Chat Chan Teng provide many kinds of set dishes for students and J-card members. The sets include rice, noodles, chop and others tasty food. They will also give you a few of vouchers to let you use whenever you have breakfast or lunch at there. The average price is still ok for students as can get discounts from here. My set is around RM15++.

Wong Kwok Char Chan Teng is a very nice place to have a pleasant meal there. You can relax with the environment and also kindness of the workers there. Workers there are helpful and a smile face is always on their faces. They are very friendly and work hard. The services provided by them is highly appreciated by me.

Here is a photo taken by my friend. Me with my baked rice :)
